Methodologies & Analyses

As full service agency, TNS INFO Research offers an extensive repertoire of research methods.

Quantitative Department
Based on a pre-defined set of questions (fully structured questionnaire), respondents express verbally their knowledge, opinions and believes on certain topics. A structured interview is based on a fully developed questionnaire, which defines the exact wording and flow of questions. The high degree of standardization of the survey and very reduced influence of interviewers will improve the comparability of results.
Depending on the type of data collection the following approaches can be made:

  • Face-to-face (F2F) interviewing
  • Paper and pencil (P&P) interviewing
  • Telephone interviewing
  • Online interviewing

Qualitative Department
To analyze the depth of the worlds brands and products, superficial rationality needs to be kept far away. Only by means of sophisticated techniques do we get insight into the needs, purchasing motivations and hidden attitudes of consumers.
While quantitative approaches aim at achieving data which are reliable and representative for a larger universe (target group), qualitative procedures try to provide insights on "why" and "how", i. e. digging deeper into the consumers’ mind.
Qualitative data collection methods are Focus Groups and in-depth interviews, e.g. expert interviews or ethnographic interviews. Also research done by workshops – such as Super Group™ - belong to this field of research.

Data Analysis
Apart from highly sophisticated modeling approaches in connection with standardized research techniques, we analyze data by means of various statistical methods, depending on individual research objectives:

  • Regression analysis
  • Variance and Covariance analysis
  • Discriminate analysis
  • Cluster analysis
  • Factor analysis
  • Multidimensional scaling (MDS)
  • Correspondence analysis
